Renowned Romanian climber Horia Colibășanu has successfully scaled Nanga Parbat (8126 m) this morning, 04 July 2025, 07:00 PKT.
Colibășanu (48), who had already climbed ten of the world’s 8,000-meter peaks without using supplementary oxygen, added Nanga Parbat as the eleventh eight-thousander to his mountaineering résumé.
In a Facebook post this afternoon following his successful summit, Colibășanu shared:
“Peak! Today, July 4, at 7:00 AM, we reached the summit of Nanga Parbat (8,125 m). A feeling of deep gratitude after nine hours of climbing. It’s been a long, hard night. Thank you for all your thoughts and support!”
Colibășanu was part of the Seven Summit Treks. The summit route was opened yesterday 3 July, with several members reaching the top that day, followed by Colibășanu and Australian climber Allie Pepper, among many others, summiting this morning.
However, the death of Czech climber Klára Kolouchová overshadowed the achievement as she fell while descending above Camp II on the mountain yesterday. She was accompanied by her guide Taraman Tamang when she reportedly slipped on a rocky section of the mountain.
